A fairly aesthetically pleasing first person story shooter that predominantly takes place in cold war-era East Berlin but in parallel reality where seemingly, the only remaining life comes in the form of humanoid robots which are less than friendly when encountering you.
The story was interesting and intriguing however very short in length - It took me approximately 3 hours to complete. To me, although enjoyable, the game feels more like a prologue or the first part of a bigger game but unfortunately it isn't. There are black and white flashback sections that break up the chapters and while they do offer something different, I don't feel they really add much to the game but these sections are short and infrequent. One of the biggest mysteries of the game are the giant 100ft tall creatures that roam the world and are often seen very far in the distance - I would've liked to have seen more up-close and personal sections with these beings.
I found that the weapons unfortunately felt a little light and lacking oomph but mechanically the game is pretty competent. The game doesn't hold your hand in terms of telling you what to do but more teaches you what to do in certain situations in order to progress to the point I felt like I was working things out and never found myself confused as to what to do or where to go.
While the graphics aren't the most stunning in the world, they are fairly pleasing to look at and I never witnessed anything that looked jarring or out of place. The general setting as well as a number of structures are very reminiscent of City 17 and Combine structures from Half-Life 2.
In Conclusion
Did I enjoy it? Yes, Absolutely I did but I also received my copy of the game for free. I personally don't think I would have bought it at the full price of £17 although if you can pick it up in a sale, even if it's just a 20% discount, I feel like I can give it my recommendation at that price as it's definitely worth giving a try.
